PROJECT:
The Octopus Hunters of Zanzibar, Tanzania
CHALLENGE:
Explain the economic impact of tourism on the fishing trade off the developing coast of Africa.
OUR SOLUTION:
Conduct an ethnographic study that focused on a few individuals who’s lives were uprooted by the tourism industry. The findings from the study were then developed into a narrated, documentary style film that unraveled the intricacies of how a changing and developing country battles the challenge of exploitation.
RESULT:
A carefully developed script resulting in a powerful short film. It was a look into one woman’s experience as she faced a cultural shift that changed generations of established behavior.
