Storytelling With A Mission

We Are Truth Be Told

Our Mission

We’re on a mission to help good causes tell their story through the art of film. We listen, explore, investigate, learn, create insights and then craft compelling stories to help causes make an impact. We inspire audiences to act and are working to make the world a better place. We have over ten years of creative direction, conducting ethnographic research, and creating documentary style films.”

Story of the founder

Growing up small changed my life. As a result of a defective pituitary gland I went through high school and half of college standing a little under four feet ten inches tall. I sat on pillows so I could drive my car. Needless to say athletics weren’t my strong suite; I tried out for soccer, tennis and ice hockey freshman year and didn’t make a cut. Instead I focused on community service and volunteering, and never looked back. I went to the Philippines with Operation Smile, built houses with Habitat for Humanity, taught Down Syndrome children with EPOCH  and attended retreats at inner city rehab centers with Bridges.  The end result is that I’m a compassionate listener who genuinely wants to help others; ten years of creative and strategic experience at a few of the top advertising agencies in the world helps me do it effectively. Armed with a full suite of professional film gear like aerial drones and electronic steadi-cams, and a great team; I’ve set off to tell social impact stories and change the world!

Films that make the world better
We are inspired by effective social impact and we believe that together we can change the world. Our mission is simple, help great causes tell cinematic stories. Our films have influenced legislation, educated children around the world, been awarded in international festivals, advised world leaders and have appeared on PBS, VICE, History Channel, Virgin America and several other global media channels.
Experience
Before starting Truth Be Told, we worked on award winning campaigns at advertising agencies named top agency of the year like TWBA/ Chiat/ Day, GoodBy, Silverstein and Butler, Shine. We have over ten years of experience conducting ethnographic research, bringing creative ideas to life and producing documentary style films. We are experts at writing scripts, developing screenplays, cinematography, producing and editing films and as you search around our site you’ll see we’ve done it for some wonderful clients.

Creating a film that will incite action

This film “It’s Time” tells a moving story and employs powerful cinematic techniques to make an impact. Our mission is to not only create powerful films that incite action, but do so through a strategy that encourages the film to be shared. Our friends at ListenIn Pictures recently wrote down some helpful strategies for creating […]

Stop Digging for Insights

Great post by Emma a thought also articulated by Steve Jobs; the notion that insights aren’t discovered, but rather they are intuited by understanding an audience and making a connection that has previously gone unnoticed. STOP DIGGING FOR INSIGHTS I am fed up with digging for consumer insights. More precisely, I am fed up with […]

Doing Good Instead of Looking Good

This year Toni Morrision gave this commencement speech at Rutgers about living a meaningful life. She makes a wonderful point not only about how the American dream has changed but what it means to do good. “I have often wished that Jefferson had not used that phrase, “the pursuit of happiness”, as the third right—although […]

PORCELAIN UNICORN

In just three minutes and six lines, this film short, Porcelain Unicorn by director Keegan Wilcox, packs a real emotional punch. The film won the Grand Prize in 2010 for the Philips Parallel Lines “Tell It Your Way” international competition and is about a young German boy who has a heart when it comes to […]

Everything is a Remix (3 of 3)

We heard it before, everything we is built off something that has already been created. So what is the path to creativity and innovation. Great artists spend their formative years producing derrivative work. Hunter S. Thompson wrote out the entire Great Gatsby just to get the feel for writing a great novel and Bob Dylan’s […]

Lexar

Lexar is a technology company who develops back-up and storage technology in the consumer computer sector. CHALLENGE: Lexar needed a story to explain how their product provides a unique solution in a category that can be complicated and confusing.  They needed to understand how their consumer thinks, a strategy for communicating rational and emotional benefits […]
