JungleStairs

** **OFFICIAL SELECTION AT THE SAN FRANCISCO GREEN FILM FESTIVAL 2016**

JungleStairs is a volunteer community revitalization initiative on 22nd between Diamond & Castro. The team of urban gardeners that ranges from 13 months old to 82 years old transformed an entire city block of derelict land over the course of four years. The group adopted the land and planted over twelve different varieties of California natives that included over 1200 plants. It was an incredible exercise in community building and considerably strengthened the ties between neighbors on the block. The project was supported by the SF Parks Alliance, the Community Challenge Grant, the PUC, the Friends of Noe Valley, Literacy For Environmental Justice, Groundworks and countless volunteers.

John, would you rather allow deelirct spaces in our city to continue to be dumping grounds for people’s rubbish? Something positive for the Brighton community is happening at The Mound, people are working together to do something good. Do we really need permission from the wealthy and the powerful to do what is right? If we did, then we’d be waiting a very long time
